Celery juice – a magic potion has created a lot of buzz in past few days due to its numerous health benefits when it especially comes to weight loss and flushing out the toxins from the body. However, there are claims on this celery juice diet as they alone help in weight loss. Nonetheless, it is known that no food alone can help in losing weight. Clean & healthy diet, body movements and calorie deficit is what helps in healthy weight loss. Let’s see more about this health drink and their benefits. Here we go –

Benefits of the ingredients used in the celery juice

Celery stalk

Celery is relatively low in calories and provides dietary fiber bulk that’s required for weight loss. Adding celery juice into the diet in your daily routine helps you in getting complete benefits of its fibers and minerals. Celery also helps in boosting digestion and reduces bloating. The high percentage of water and electrolytes in celery further helps in preventing dehydration. But please note that celery alone can’t help in loosing food but the idea is replacing high-calorie beverages like coffee, tea, sugary drinks or soda with celery juice is a great and smart choice if you are trying to lose weight. Additionally, it also helps you keep full for longer period of time thereby prevents you from overeating. Also, It is rich in anti-oxidants!

Ginger

Studies and research have shown that being overweight can bring on oxidative stress and inflammation which is caused due to free radicals from the body. Ginger’s antioxidant property helps in controlling these free radicals and its anti-inflammatory property can counter the inflammation. Ginger as a food, supplement or as a drink helps in protecting your body against obesity and the chronic diseases caused as a side-effect from being obese. 

Ginger contains gingerols and shagols. These compounds help in stimulating several biological activities in your body when consumed. As gingerols encourages certain biological effects in your body, it has an anti-obesity effect on the body and helps food digest faster which overall contributes to weight loss.

Cucumber

Cucumber – a cool veggie is known for its numerous health benefits that includes in preventing dehydration and constipation. It as a detoxifying and cleansing effect on the body. Cucumber provides vitamin C and vitamin K which are essential nutrients and are helpful for weight loss journey. This low-calorie veggie makes it an amazing choice for weight loss friendly foods that includes detox drinks, salads and sandwiches.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar have shown to promote fullness which further helps in reducing calorie intake. It is also shown that it has appetite-suppressing effects which significantly slowed stomach emptying and improved digestive system. However, it should be noted that apple cider vinegar can’t alone change person’s BMI and the fact that it claims for aiding in weight loss is unlikely as the studies on it are small with least number of participants involved in it showing modest results.

Recipe for celery juice for weight loss and detox

Here is how you can prepare celery juice with all the ingredients whose benefits were discussed above. 

Ingredients used –

  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 inch fresh ginger roots
  • A small cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of rock salt (as per your taste and requirements)

Method –

Take a blender and add chopped pieces of 1 celery stalk, 1 inch chopped fresh ginger roots and 1 small cucumber chopped pieces. Blend them to smooth. Note that you don’t require adding water as they are water-rich which easily gets blended though. Now take a muslin cloth and squeeze out the juice from it. Take a glass and add this squeezed juice and add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a pinch of rock salt as per your taste requirements. Give it a very good mix and yes its ready!! 

Have this juice on your empty stomach every day.
